![]() ![]() ![]() The four pages, “About the Ho-Chunk” by the Nation’s former president, Jon Greendeer, are appended to Davids’ story. Part of Davids’ story is learning about her Ho-Chunk background and culture which her mother had lost when she was taken from her family and told to pretend that she was not an Indigenous person. Her habit of talking a lot but also listening to people stood her in good stead, even leading her into a successful campaign to represent Kansas in the federal government. Yet she learned a strong work ethic and the willingness to face challenges, including her application to a program to educate Native Americans to be lawyers.
